Another IRI Update: Spots are OPEN!

It’s time for another IRI update. Bear with me as I explain a few things about registration, payments, waiting list teams and teams who are in the process of paying.

The deadline for IRI registration payment is today. Many teams were clamoring the past few days to get their payments in. Again, we thank the teams who have paid for their entry.

As of yesterday afternoon (6/30), these teams have their spots paid and confirmed:
25, 33, 45, 47, 48, 56, 68, 71, 93, 101, 111, 116, 128, 217, 222, 233, 234, 269, 292, 378, 393, 447, 461, 494, 808, 829, 830, 868, 888, 980, 1000, 1022, 1024, 1108, 1114, 1213, 1272, 1305, 1327, 1501, 1507, 1529, 1555, 1646, 9999

Also, as of 6/30, these teams have their payments “in process”, but not received by Steve Wherry at Perry Meridian HS:
16, 27, 65, 135, 330, 364, 397, 469, 503, 573, 818, 1018, 1038, 1083, 1525

Most of these teams have called or emailed, saying that their check is on the way. Some of these checks may have arrived at Perry Meridian today, but I have not heard from Steve Wherry about today’s payment status. If a check from these teams was received at PMHS today, then their spot is secured… but I don’t know the status of that at this point (and I waited to send out this email becuase I did not know).

At the same time, these teams are on the waiting list for IRI:
862, 1504, 1458, 188, 716, 910, 2727*

These teams deserve an update on how registration is going and if there are open spots at IRI.

We are fairly sure that there are 1 or 2 teams who have registered who are not going to pay. Either we have not heard from them at all, or their team leadership has changed since signing up.

So… here is how it is going to be:

45 teams are in
15 spots are open
21 teams (15 who registered + 6 on waiting list) have the ability to grab those 15 spots. These spots will be designated to teams who can pay for them the quickest, by check, to Steve Wherry at Perry Meridian High School (see address below).

So… if you are an “in process” team, and your check is on its way, then you don’t need to worry. Chances are that the spot is still yours, as your check will be received soon. If your check was received at PMHS today and I just don’t know about it, then you are also OK.

MANY people have asked me to “save their spots”. This puts me and our team of organizers in a tough spot. We gotta treat all teams the same. Many of you are travelling from near and far to attend this competition. The only thing that has changed is that these 6 teams who were previously on the waiting list now have a chance to get a spot, if they send a payment in soon. The teams who have already registered and have a payment in process have a head start on the waiting list teams.

I will send out a note on Tuesday, July 5th, letting you all know which teams are “in” at that point and how many open spots are available.

Also… a volunteer position update will be sent out early next week.
