IRI History 2001
In 2001’s Diabolical Dynamics game, all four teams playing on the field played on the same side- no alliances! The point of the game was to work together for the highest score. The IRI was again held in the Memorial Gym in Kokomo, Indiana and was hosted by Team #45, the TechnoKats.
This year, attendance went up to 28 teams. The winners of the 2001 IRI were Team #308, The Walled Lake Monsters; #111, Wildstang; #469, Las Guerillas; and #85, B.O.B. (Built On Brains). Again, no Indiana teams won the IRI: three of the winners were from Michigan, and one from Illinois.
Highlights:
- Team #190 won the “Spirit Award”, not for their loud cheering, but for travelling from the east coast to compete.
- The winning alliance scored 710 points to beat the powerful alliance, led by the FIRST Champions - team 71, to win.
- The team party featured roasted BBQ pork, which days before was a live pig.
